JOJOBA OIL-EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT IT!

I missed the recent exposure of jojoba oil on TV,but I must have been the only one that did.Lot's of people have been talking about it.I have used jojoba oil over the years both for personal use and as a beauty therapist as a base for facial oils and massage.
Jojoba oil is a beautifully textured, light oil excellent for use in skin care.It is technically a liquid wax,and does not oxidise therefore it dosn't spoil.Jojoba oil is closest  to the skin's own  natural sebum, which means even those with oily skin can use and benefit from it,but it is suitable for any skin type.It contains anti-inflammatory properties, protein, minerals, vitamin E,is a mild natural sunscreen and helps your tan last longer.Use jojoba oil on inflamed, irritated skin, oily blemished skin,as a masage oil or hair conditioner, and as a moisturiser for  oily, combination or normal skin.

MIRANDA KERR'S BOOK-TREASURE YOURSELF

Iv'e just finished reading miranda Kerr's book that she wrote for young women. My daughter has the book so I read her copy. It's inspiring- full of tips for health and wellbeing and good common sense advice. She's really into helping herself get the most out of life on every level and uses positive affirmations each day.She talks about doing yoga, eating healthy and learning to feel good about yourself as a person.I thought this was fantastic advice for young girls/women to hear because it helps with self confidence and self esteem which she talks about a lot in the book.I'd really recommend the book especially for teenage girls/young women.

Happy reading,love f

HEALTHYBEAUTY: LET'S REJUVENATE IN WINTER

HEALTHYBEAUTY: LET'S REJUVENATE IN WINTER: Mid-winter is upon us and IT.IS.COLD.Even in paradise. It's a great time of year to sit by fires and drink red wine (or whatever). It would be...

BEAUTY TIP-PAW PAW OINTMENT

One of the best beauty tips I discovered a few years back was from a makeup artist in a magazine using none other than paw paw ointment.
Just dab a small amount around the entire eye orbit every morning as your 'last step' before leaving your sanctuary. This includes the eyebrows,as it grooms the brow into place better than anything else I know,it adds a subtle glow to the brow bone, then you lightly tap around and include top of cheek bone and temples.
According to article, paw paw gives a tightening effect to eye and highlights the same as an illuminator would.
I agree as iv'e been using it every day since, and now basically it has become an indespensable makeup item that I cant do without.Even if you dont wear makeup, it's a fantastic natural product to use as an alternative eye brow groomer and brow/cheek bone highlighter, then dab some onto your lips as a moisturising balm and you are good to go.
Have a great day love,f

LET'S REJUVENATE IN WINTER

Mid-winter is upon us and IT.IS.COLD.Even in paradise. It's a great time of year to sit by fires and drink red wine (or whatever). It would be easy to neglect skin and body at times like these, after all,who could think of cleansing and massaging rosehip oil into skin when your half way through a bottle of red (or whatever),the fire or the heater is on and the kids are in bed. However, when it comes to rejuvenation, small steps matter, little things we do for our ourselves pays big diviends for skin, health, mind and spirit.

HAVE A BATH
Pour a carton of organic full cream cow's milk into it then 3 drops each of lavender and geranium essential oils.
ADD CANDLES
As your're soaking, gently cleanse your face twice(double cleansing each night is good because it removes makeup, pollution, and cleans the pores properly-you'll notice a big difference in your skin if you double cleanse.)then let the steam do the rest as you lie there.
MEDITATE OR READ
This is ultimately rejuvenating us on every level
SHAVE LEGS
AFTER BATH....have olive oil on hand to pat into warm skin, then moisturise on top of that for a double whammy of hydration.
This is all it takes, and half to one hour at most.In that time you have exfoliated your skin(thanks to the lactic acid in the milk),deep cleansed your pores, thanks to the heat and steam, and made yourself feel good by reading or meditating.(Nurturing your soul).
This is rejuvenation.Everyone's happy-you,your skin,your body,your wellbeing,your soul,me,-(im happy for you).
NOW SPREAD THE LOVE!

FANTASTIC AND EFFECTIVE BODY SCRUBS YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME-CONTINUED

RAW SUGAR AND OLIVE OIL BODY SCRUB

A basic scrub but a very effective one. This is particularly good for dry, more mature skin types. The oil works to lubricate and moisturise the skin at the same time. This scrub makes the best hand scrub, and you could add 1 to 2 drops of essential oils into the sugar and oil mixture.Orange, lavender, neroli and geranium e/o's are beautiful for this.

Enjoy scubbing,love f

FANTASTIC AND EFFECTIVE BODY SCRUBS YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME

Body scrubs are an effective way of sloughing off dead skin cells and stimulating the circulation therefore giving your skin an overall healthy appearance. The skin appears more toned and healthy looking.Once the dead, surface skin cells are sloughed away, new fresh skin is revealed.Scrubs are ideal to combine with detoxing, or when on a weight loss programme.
Some commercial scrubs are good, but watch out for a lot of hidden chemicals that  some store bought scrubs could contain, because we are rubbing them into our skin vigorously. It's better to make your own scrubs anyway because you make what you need so there's no wastage, you can experiment with various ingredients which makes it very cost effective, and you know exactly whats in it because you made it!
If you want to go organic, health food shops and some supermarkets sell a lot of the ingredients you would need and then you would have your supplies at the ready whenever you felt like doing a scrub.
You can do a body scrub once or twice a week or more often if you like-there are no real rules-your skin will tell you when to back off if you are overdoing it!I read that Elle Macpherson uses a body scrub every day.I have tried doing one every day but it did tend to dry my skin out,but because I have a slow skin cell turnover I do try and do them several times a week because  I love the stimulating effect it has on the skin and that pink 'glow' due to increased blood supply to the area, which makes the skin  look fresher.(moisturiser absorbs into the skin even better after a scrub).

TRY THESE OPTIONS:

COFFEE SCRUB

Organic ground coffee-(never toss out the exccess coffee at the bottom of a plunger after youv'e drunk it as it makes a great scrub on its own.)
Cinnamon powder
Coconut cream/milk
Mix all these together to form a consistancy that is a runny paste,it's best done in the
shower after the skin is wet. This scrub is AMAZING.turn off running water and do
the entire body, then rinse off.Moisturise after. You will notice how this scrub really
gets rid of dry, scaly, dull and lacklustre skin.

KELP POWDER

Organic kelp powder
This little wonder food has to be tried and seen to be believed.I reckon it's the secret
to youthful skin which of course is no longer a secret. It comes as a fine powder(kelp
as a supplement has been used for years, you can actually take the powder internally
as well). You do not need to use a lot but the idea is to do it in the shower when skin
is already wet and just move it over wet skin with your hand.If anyone tries this please
contact me and let me know what you think.

ORGANIC SEA SALT/HIMALAYAN SALT /CELTIC SEA SALT

Base or carrier oil
These salts contain minerals galore that are so good for us,they make excellent scrubs
but do have slightly more tendency to dry the skin.
Mix with the oil and you have a very inexpensive but particularly good scrub
especially on area's such as knee's,elbow's, heels etc.

With winter well under way and layers of clothing constantly covering our skin,a scub a least once a week is beneficial and invigorating, and once spring hits,do them more often.
