FRESH SPRING FACIALS YOU CAN DO AT HOME

Spring has sprung,excitment is in the air,weather's beautiful, and everyone is coming out of winter hibernation-love it.Love this time of year- makeup,beauty and skincare is so exciting-the colours,the products and the bare skin!However,with bare skin in mind, spring is a great time to shed some not so attractive dead skin cells and reveal a fresh dewy complexion that's primed for moisurisers,makeup or faketan.If makeup and faketan isn't your thing that's ok too,your skin will look fresh and glowing with a few tweaks-DIY facials and body scrubs that are easy and fun.

FACIAL 1
The simplest (and best) DIY facial is to squeeze fresh lemon juice into organic natural yogurt and apply to cleansed skin as a face pack for 5-10mins.rinse off with cool water,pat dry and apply moisturiser.done.Do this once or twice a week and you'll start to see a difference in the appearance of your skin-fresh,radiant and more youthful looking.

FACIAL 2
Mash avocado with a small amount of olive oil into a paste.Apply to cleansed skin and lie down for 15mins(and yes,you have got 15 mins!).This works a treat for really dry,parched,and sun damaged skin.Wipe off,splash face and apply moisturiser as normal.

FACIAL 3
Mash banana and add small amount natural yogurt,mix to a paste and apply to cleansed skin for 5-10mins then rinse pat dry and moisturise as normal.

FACIAL 4
Use roughly 2 tablespoons of papaya pulp and allow to sit on skin for 10mins,then rinse,splash face and admire your amazing skin!moisturise afterward.

BODY SCRUBS
You can make a very effective body scrub using raw sugar and olive oil,mix the two and use it in the shower-it's a great way of sloughing off dead skins cells without stripping the skin of valuable oils and prior to fake tan application.

I found the following recipe in a magazine a few years ago and have been using it ever sinse.IT IS AMAZING.(I think it's Balinese)
Mix ground coffee,cinnamon powder,coconut oil,coconut cream all together and scrub away.It's easier to apply in the shower when skin is damp but it is messy and I usually have to clean the shower recess then and there to avoid stain buildup etc.But it's so good and skin tingles afterward.Use a rich body butter to moisturise whole body and you'll look and feel amazing.
Happy spring cleaning! love fiona

TRY USING FRESH CREAM AS A FACIAL CLEANSER- IT REALLY WORKS

I was out  of any cream cleanser so instead of using one of my trusted oils as cleanser I used fresh cream.I have used it before and had forgotten how effective it is.It removes makeup,grease and grime, and mildly exfoliates as it naturally contains  lactic acid.
It's better for use on dry,dehydrated,sensitive or ageing skin types.Probably too oily or rich for oily skin or those prone to breakouts.It's a great alternative to cream or lotion cleansers-you can save your money,just keep fresh cream in the fridge!
Use organic cream if possible-just massage into face, neck and decolletage,remove with moist cotton pads, then splash with cool water and/or tone.
Easy,peasy cleansing!Hope you get good results.let me know what you think,love f

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION-DR.ORGANIC 100% ORGANIC MANUKA HONEY BODY BUTTER

This is a beautiful body butter that melts into the skin.It has a definate honey smell,quite strong but pleasant.
It is unusual in that it's not an ultra thick,heavy body butter like others,but has a silky texture that is easily absorbed but dosn't leave a greasy residue.This could be due to the purity of the product,the ingredients chosen and the way its been blended together.It is one of the best all over body moisturisers I have used for a long time-it really works!
I've also experimented and used it on my face as a heavier night cream-amazing result the next day and I could still smell the honey!
dr.organic uses certified bioactive ingredients:
Manuka Honey
Aloe Vera
Shea Butter
Jojoba
Vitamin E
It left my body (and face)hydrated,moisturised and replenished, and lasted all day.Highly recommended.
Enjoy,love f

ORGANIC ROSEHIP SEED OIL-IDEAL FOR ECZEMA,SCARS,WRINKLES.....

There's a buzz about Rosehip seed oil at the moment,and for good reason.Organic rosehip seed oil is a precious gem of an oil,it is so good for the skin.
You can use it on it's own or mix it with other oils or into a base cream or your own moisturiser.
The benefits of this well absorbed,lightweight,odourless oil cannot be praised enough: Promotes tissue regeneration-ideal for eczema,psoriasis,irritated,red or hot skin,great for after sun;all types of scar tissue including pigmented scars,stretch marks,old injuries,surgical scars;mature,dry skin, wrinkles-it tones and heals when massaged into the skin regularly.
Rosehip seed oil is used widely in the beauty industry and is found in many skin care ranges-it contains up to 35% linoleic acid,44% gammalinolenic acid and is rich in vitamins.
I sometimes use it as a makeup remover and then again as a night treatment oil-apply while skin is still warm after shower and massage into entire face,neck and decollettage,then massage into entire body to soak in overnight.
Rosehip seed oil is available from health food outlets and some pharmacies.

Thought i'd share this:
"Here's my beauty secret: use organic skin care;eat mostly organic foods,such as whole grains,veges,fruits,organic salmon;exercise aerobically,practise yoga or strength training,get plenty of sleep,and drink lots of water."-Karen Behnke,founder of Juice Beauty

ECO-FRIENDLY SKIN CARE FOR DRY,SENSITIVE SKIN

The dry weather of late,coupled with wind, can cause your skin to really dry out and become sensitive and dehydrated.Redness and irritation can occur with every line and wrinkle sticking out where it's not wanted.
This calls for extra care, and comfort creams.
Windy weather strips the skin of both oil and water(dehydration),so we need to replace both internally and externally.
Internally drink a lot of water,herb and green teas.Take fish oil or flaxseed oil-you'll notice a big difference to the condition of your skin,especially long term.
Thats the easy part.
Swap to a cream,lotion or oil based cleanser.Almond oil is fantastic and makes an ideal makeup remover as well.
Weleda make beautiful,gentle skincare products that are natural and organic.
A'kin do a lovely cream cleanser as well.
There are so many eco friendly brands now and it is a matter of trying different moisturisers and finding one that works for your particular skin and lifestyle.If skin is dry and sensitive it works well to use a serum or oil UNDERNEATH moisturiser during the day and on cleansed skin at night as a treatment.If skin is really parched use oil and a heavier night cream over the top.
The brand dr.organic bioactive skincare make beautiful moisturisers and body butters that are rich but lightweight as well and absorb beautifully into the skin and contain certified organic ingredients.
The Kora organics tinted day cream is really good - it says on the label to wear it over the top of moisturiser which is a great idea if your skin is dry like mine and iv'e been doing that and it's made a difference.
Hope this info helps,love f

BOOK REVIEW-DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF.......and it's all small stuff- BY RICHARD CARLSON,PH.D.

I'm reading this book about 12 years after first hearing about it when my daughter was a baby.I read one of his other books back then which was great,but this beckoned me the other day.so....
As the heading implies,it really teaches you to stop sweating over,worrying about,and constantly nitpicking over the things in life that don't really matter anyway.I'ts just a great read for those who want peace and contentment instead of confusion and frustration.
It's an easy read,a couple of pages to each concept (chapter),suggesting ways to lower your stress levels,find the potential good in situations that previously frustrated us,find peace and calm,and change our attitudes that damage our peace of mind.
The information is also written in a way that helps you look on yourself and the rest of the humanity with compassion.
This is actually light bedside reading-iv'e been falling asleep after reading a few pages each night.It's insightful and worth the twenty bucks.
Happy reading,love f

KORA ORGANICS TINTED DAY CREAM IS BEAUTIFUL ON THE SKIN AND REPLACES FOUNDATION

I'm currently using the Tinted Day Cream from the kora organics range.This range has been beckoning me ever since it came onto the market.Well,its beautiful.Well worth the money(these products are pricey).Its just beautiful on the skin,delivers all of the goods that it claims on the packaging-and there are a lot of goods.(read certified organic ingredients good enough to eat!).
It contains a plethora of beautiful oils such as macadamia,olive,lavender,chamomille,rose and others,it also contains green tea,olive leaf extract,aloe vera and the special noni fruit extract that is in the whole Kora range.It contains Zinc oxide as the sunscreen,which is a real bonus as this can be worn to the beach for us fair skinned lasses.The colour would suit all skin tones and when I first used it I looked suntanned and that day I got compliments about my skin!
You only need to use a small amount-a little bit seems to go a long way as I discovered.Normally im heavy handed with moisturisers but with this I realised i'd be wasting it.
It is recommended on the packaging that you apply it over other moisturiser, which is a great idea as the skin will be extra hydrated and you wont need foundation-this replaces it.
Anyway I love,love,love this product so I thought i'd pass it on.
Love f

ACNE:INFORMATION,ADVICE,TIPS

Acne is a chronic infammatory disorder of the sebaceous glands,which can occur at any age.Internally the hormones play a major role- imbalances of the hormones can trigger acne.Other causes of acne are poor diet,stress,personal hygeine,incorrect skin care products/usage etc.
Acne is characterised by:
Thick skin,shiny,open pores
blackheads,whiteheads
blind pimples,pustules,sebaceous cysts
red or purplish nodules
scars,pigmentation
sensitivity

 Adopt a healthy diet and lifestyle which includes but is not limited to:

Drink lots of purified water
Make fruit, vegetables,nuts and fibre the mainstay of your diet
Limit dairy and red meat, and eliminate white flour,sugar and anything made with them.Also eliminate other highly refined 'dead food' and 'bad fats'from the diet.
Include "good fats'-the omega 3 fatty acids from fish oils or evening primrose oil.
Drink freshly squeezed lemon juice in warm water every morning
Taking a good quality supplement that includes echinacea,zinc,vitamin C and the B vitamins can be beneficial
Gently cleanse skin 2xdaily with suitable products such as a good quality goatsmilk soap,a teatree oil soap or wash OR an anti-bacterial soap can be very helpful such as sebamed medicated soap
Use lavender essential oil-dab directly onto pimples,blackheads,scar tissue
Tea-tree essential oil can be used on pimples using a cotton bud
Geranium e/o is also excellent as it is a hormonal balancer and assists circulation.All of the oils have antibacterial properties.Geranium can be mixed into a moisturiser OR you can make a nourishing,healing oil by adding 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of geranium to 25ml of apricot kernel oil
Keep skin clean but you can only do what you can-don't obsess.
Minimise stress-find ways to relax mind and body,such as yoga and meditation
Change your pillow case every day(really important)

BOOK REVIEW-AMAZING FACE BY ZOE FOSTER

Amazing Face is fantastic 'go-to' book,with tips and latest information on a range of products for face, body,hair and nails.It's also really funny as the author Zoe Foster has a great(if not bizarre)sense of humour.
The book gives product recommendations and step by step guides to doing your hair and makeup.The makeup tips are fantastic as to be expected from a former magazine beauty director.
Other topics include: How to still look good when you feel like shit (her words) and, How to do your face when your hungover.
I highly recommend it as a great source of beauty info and a laugh.

GLOBAL ANTI-AGEING TIPS/YOUTH SECRETS

These are tried and tested anti-ageing tips/youth secrets from around the globe,(apparently everyone who's anyone are doing some or all of these so I don't see how its secret but anyway...........

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude

Every morning when you wake up sip water with freshly squeezed lemon juice in it

Remove every trace of makeup before you go to bed at night

Drink pure water and lots of it every day-include green teas and other herbal teas

maintain an ideal weight-being underweight is very aging and being overweight is no good either,for obvious reasons

Keep fit doing forms of excercise you enjoy-move your body in some way every day

Eat healthy foods that are fresh,in season and that agree with your particular body type or metabolism

Take supplements like salmon/fish oils/spirulina or kelp/antioxidants/herbs/high quality mineral and vitamin supplements

keep thick eyebrows!This is not only more youthfull looking it is currently in fashion.It is nice to have a good arch but keep it at that and dont over pluck and  for goodness sake dont get them waxed!Waxing stretches the skin and the skin on the eyes is so delicate and its the last place you want to have stretched if you want to look amazing

Regularly soak in a milk bath-you will have amazingly soft,more youthfull skin

Use a physical block sunscreen every day,such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide

Dont get botox on your lips-it makes you look instantly older!

Wear some makeup.Makeup is different things to different people and when I refer to makeup it dosn't mean wearing a full face of caked on makeup-that is old school anyway.The light weight natural/organic options and multi-tasking options available now,even including things like pawpaw ointment as a highlighter can be used strategically on the face and decolettage and make such a big difference.You can knock 5-10 years off someone just by using a cheek and lip tint or bronzer and gloss,some concealer if you need it(and not many of us don't),grab pawpaw ointment and pat over the eyebrows and tops of the cheekbones and your done.Wearing concealer alone,or mixing a moisturising foundation in with your moisturiser which leaves you with a dewy complexion,can instantly make ANYONE look more youthfull

Do what you love and love what you do-find out what motivates you to get out of bed everyday and do it-that will keep you young

Have a young spirit.Tap into the things you love and get rid of things in life that zap your life-force

We need to be able to overcome negativity such as anger,jelousy,greed,envy,fear, guilt or anything like this that is extreme or at unhealthy levels in our life-people who walk around world weary and angry look like they're 85 even if they're only 20 -not a good look,hardly youthfull

Laugh and smile your way to looking good!smiling and laughing is the number one beauty secret and it just happens to be free!It makes you look good 'cause you it makes you feel good

JOJOBA OIL-EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT IT!

I missed the recent exposure of jojoba oil on TV,but I must have been the only one that did.Lot's of people have been talking about it.I have used jojoba oil over the years both for personal use and as a beauty therapist as a base for facial oils and massage.
Jojoba oil is a beautifully textured,light oil excellent for use in skin care.It is technically a liquid wax,and does not oxidise therefore it dosn't spoil.Jojoba oil is closest  to the skin's own  natural sebum,which means even those with oily skin can use and benefit from it,but it is suitable for any skin type.It contains anti-inflammatory properties,protein,minerals,vitamin E,is a mild natural sunscreen and helps your tan last longer.Use jojoba oil on inflamed,irritated skin,oily blemished skin,as a masage oil or hair conditioner,and as a moisturiser for  oily,combination or normal skin.

MIRANDA KERR'S BOOK-TREASURE YOURSELF

Iv'e just finished reading miranda Kerr's book that she wrote for young women.My daughter has the book so I read her copy.It's inspiring- full of tips for health and wellbeing and good common sense advice.She's really into helping herself get the most out of life on every level and uses positive affirmations each day.She talks about doing yoga,eating healthy and learning to feel good about yourself as a person.I thought this was fantastic advice for young girls/women to hear because it helps with self confidence and self esteem which she talks about a lot in the book.I'd really recommend the book especially for teenage girls/young women.

HEALTHYBEAUTY: LET'S REJUVENATE IN WINTER

HEALTHYBEAUTY: LET'S REJUVENATE IN WINTER: Mid-winter is upon us and IT.IS.COLD.Even in paradise.It's a great time of year to sit by fires and drink red wine (or whatever).It would be...

BEAUTY TIP-PAW PAW OINTMENT

One of the best beauty tips I discovered a few years back was from a makeup artist in a magazine using none other than paw paw ointment.
Just dab a small amount around the entire eye orbit every morning as your 'last step' before leaving your sanctuary.This includes the eyebrows,as it grooms the brow into place better than anything else I know,it adds a subtle glow to the brow bone,then you lightly tap around and include top of cheek bone and temples.
According to article,paw paw gives a tightening effect to eye and highlights the same as an illuminator would.
I agree as iv'e been using it every day since, and now basically it has become an indespensable makeup item that I cant do without.Even if you dont wear makeup, it's a fantastic natural product to use as an alternative eye brow groomer and brow/cheek bone highlighter,then dab some onto your lips as a moisturising balm and you are good to go.
Have a great day love,f

LET'S REJUVENATE IN WINTER

Mid-winter is upon us and IT.IS.COLD.Even in paradise.It's a great time of year to sit by fires and drink red wine (or whatever).It would be easy to neglect skin and body at times like these,after all,who could think of cleansing and massaging rosehip oil into skin when your half way through a bottle of red (or whatever),the fire or the heater is on and the kids are in bed.However,when it comes to rejuvenation,small steps matter,little things we do for our ourselves pays big diviends for skin,health,mind and spirit.

HAVE A BATH
Pour a carton of organic full cream cow's milk into it then 3 drops each of lavender and geranium essential oils.
ADD CANDLES
As your're soaking,gently cleanse your face twice(double cleansing each night is good because it removes makeup,pollution,and cleans the pores properly-you'll notice a big difference in your skin if you double cleanse.)then let the steam do the rest as you lie there.
MEDITATE OR READ
This is ultimately rejuvenating us on every level
SHAVE LEGS
AFTER BATH....have olive oil on hand to pat into warm skin,then moisturise on top of that for a double whammy of hydration.
This is all it takes, and half to one hour at most.In that time you have exfoliated your skin(thanks to the lactic acid in the milk),deep cleansed your pores, thanks to the heat and steam,and made yourself feel good by reading or meditating.(Nurturing your soul).
This is rejuvenation.Everyone's happy-you,your skin,your body,your wellbeing,your soul,me,-(im happy for you).
NOW SPREAD THE LOVE!
Love,f

FANTASTIC AND EFFECTIVE BODY SCRUBS YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME-CONTINUED

RAW SUGAR AND OLIVE OIL BODY SCRUB

A basic scrub but a very effective one.This is particularly good for dry,more mature skin types.The oil works to lubricate and moisturise the skin at the same time.This scrub makes the best hand scrub,and you could add 1 to 2 drops of essential oils into the sugar and oil mixture.Orange,lavender,neroli and geranium e/o's are beautiful for this.

FANTASTIC AND EFFECTIVE BODY SCRUBS YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME

Body scrubs are an effective way of sloughing off dead skin cells and stimulating the circulation therefore giving your skin an overall healthy appearance.The skin appears more toned and healthy looking.Once the dead,surface skin cells are sloughed away,new fresh skin is revealed.Scrubs are ideal to combine with detoxing, or when on a weight loss programme.
Some commercial scrubs are good, but watch out for a lot of hidden chemicals that  some store bought scrubs could contain,because we are rubbing them into our skin vigorously.It's better to make your own scrubs anyway because you make what you need so there's no wastage,you can experiment with various ingredients which makes it very cost effective, and you know exactly whats in it because you made it!
If you want to go organic,health food shops and some supermarkets sell a lot of the ingredients you would need and then you would have your supplies at the ready whenever you felt like doing a scrub.
You can do a body scrub once or twice a week or more often if you like-there are no real rules-your skin will tell you when to back off if you are overdoing it!I read that Elle Macpherson uses a body scrub every day.I have tried doing one every day but it did tend to dry my skin out,but because I have a slow skin cell turnover I do try and do them several times a week because  I love the stimulating effect it has on the skin and that pink 'glow' due to increased blood supply to the area, which makes the skin  look fresher.(moisturiser absorbs into the skin even better after a scrub).

TRY THESE OPTIONS:

COFFEE SCRUB

Organic ground coffee-(never toss out the exccess coffee at the bottom of a plunger after youv'e drunk it as it makes a great scrub on its own.)
Cinnamon powder
Coconut cream/milk
                                    Mix all these together to form a consistancy that is a runny paste,it's best done in the
                                    shower after the skin is wet.This scrub is AMAZING.turn off running water and do
                                    the entire body,then rinse off.Moisturise after.You will notice how this scrub really
                                    gets rid of dry,scaly,dull and lacklustre skin.

KELP POWDER

Organic kelp powder
                                  This little wonder food has to be tried and seen to be believed.I reckon it's the secret
                                  to youthful skin which of course is no longer a secret.It comes as a fine powder(kelp
                                  as a supplement has been used for years,you can actually take the powder internally
                                  as well).You do not need to use a lot but the idea is to do it in the shower when skin
                                  is already wet and just move it over wet skin with your hand.If anyone tries this please
                                  contact me and let me know what you think.

ORGANIC SEA SALT/HIMALAYAN SALT /CELTIC SEA SALT

Base or carrier oil
                                 These salts contain minerals galore that are so good for us,they make excellent scrubs
                                  but do have slightly more tendency to dry the skin.
                                  Mix with the oil and you have a very inexpensive but particularly good scrub
                                  especially on area's such as knee's,elbow's, heels etc.

With winter well under way and layers of clothing constantly covering our skin,a scub a least once a week is beneficial and invigorating,and once spring hits,do them more often.

DIY AT HOME MANICURE/PEDICURE-eco friendly,cost effective,fun!

This whole procedure can be as simple or as elaborate as you like.You can also use ingredients from the kitchen cupboard,so it can be a very cost effective and fun and relaxing way to spend a saturday afternoon.
Grab a bottle of champas, a couple of girlfriends & youv'e got yourself a spa party!

You'll need:  olive oil ( or any quality base or carrier oil such as almond or macadamia
                    sugar OR salt and bicarb soda (to make your scrubs)
                    essential oils(optional)
                    foot soaking bowls/dishes (stainless steel is good)
                    towels
                    mani/pedi tools like files/emery boards,nail buffer,orange sticks,cuticle clippers etc.,nail polish remover
                    nail polish-nail polishes can be toxic.If you are using cheapies or SOME mainstream nail polishes make sure you stop breathing while applying them....OR buy nontoxic ones.SUCH AS: ZOYA; BUTTER LONDON; SPA RITUAL;HONEYBEE GARDENS;NO MISS; PRITI ( in actual fact there is still no such thing as  completely natural/organic nail polishes-the one's I have listed are some of the companies that have removed really harmful,toxic substances such as pthalates,formaldehyde and toluene- and good on them.)

                  Now for the fun part:
    Crack open the bottle and drink up! show's over... just kidding

Get comfy & start by filing nails -best to start with the pedi before the mani
fill foot bowls with warm water and  1 or 2 drops of  essential oil-peppermint,lemon myrtle or lime are all nice -soak feet.Next step is scub: make your own with the olive oil and raw sugar or mix salt,bicarb and a small amount of oil.Scrub recipes are endless but these are among the best  and cheapest.
Then apply generous amounts of oils to cuticles and massage in.Next push back and tidy up cuticles,clean underneath nail etc.
Massage entire feet /hands with oil
Use nail polish remover to wipe  excess oil off nail before you paint
Start mani as your toe polish is drying,so that by the time you paint your fingernails,toes should be dry(you hope!)
PS:with the manicure, you can just use small dishes or bowls in order to soak hands and nails and lemon oil is great to add to the water

RAW 100% ORGANIC COCONUT OIL-uses & benefits for beauty

Organic virgin cocnout oil has many uses & benefits for skin & body.It is readily available from health food outlets etc, so an ideal choice,as it becomes a 'multitasker'  that's also easy on the wallet.There are a few  brands on the market and the one I am using at present is Niugini Organics from Papua New Guinea.It is cold pressed,wild harvested,no fertilisers or pesticides ever used,purely organic & raw.Besides the fact that pure coconut oil can be used in cooking,it makes an amazing overall skin/hair/body product.
It is an ideal makeup remover & cleanser for face.It also conditions hair when applied as a luxurious oil treatment.(To this you could add certain intoxicating essential oils such as ylang ylang or neroli so you can pretend you are in a very expensive spa).It is an excellent body moisturiser and  again you can personalise it with essential oils.Coconut oil helps to prolong & preserve a tan.It definately worked for me the summer a couple of years ago when I was a princess & spent the entire summer at the beach.I also made a bottle up for our neice & it worked to prolong her tan & condition her skin as well.A lovely shop assistant told me she uses it at night around her eyes as wrinkle prevention.I regularly use it in my hair as a deep conditioning treatment,I leave it on overnight and wash my hair twice the next morning and my hair looks really healthy and lush.Coconut oil is suitable for ALL SKIN TYPES AND AGES,it is high in antioxidants,contains vitamin E,and is naturally antibacterial,antfungal and antimicrobial.

Here are a couple of quotes I found inspiring I thought id share

'I don't like standard beauty-there is no beauty without strangeness'-KARL LAGERFELD

'The best colour in the whole world is the one that looks good on you'-COCO CHANEL

SKIN HEALTH-THE BENEFITS OF EXCERCISE

Unless you're sixteen years old,(ok,mabey twenty),it's likely that some effort has to go into healthy looking skin.A good skincare regime,where cleansing and moisturising are the name of the game,appropriate products for your particular skin type,healthy diet -it's true being healthy on the inside has incredible bonuses for your skin.Water intake-drink plenty and you will glow.Then there's excercise.Regular excercise that You enjoy doing, not only gives you the obvious benefit of maintaining a healthy weight,but it also visibly improves the look of the skin.Excercise increases the blood and lymphatic circulation,which encourages fresh blood supply with nutrients to the skin,while waste is removed by the body.Excercise gives you a healthy 'flush',a clearer complexion,improved skin tone & condition.

BEAUTY TIP-TAN ZINC

Tan coloured zinc makes the BEST concealer.If you are a makeup wearer,but spend a lot of time outdoors or if you really dont like wearing much makeup but are concerned about redness , pigmentation or blemishes, then the simplest (and often the cheapest)way to go is to use tan zinc.This can be used by ALL AGES-you just pat it over the area's you want just like you would any other concealer or makeup.I use it all the time because then I know i've got sun protection as well.I started off using the really cheap one's from pharmacies,which are great,but now I use the invisible zinc brand.(Elle Macpherson is the spokesperson),as I love the texture & the coverage-you can actually use it all over like a foundation if you want.It's 30+ zinc protection without nasty chemicals.It's a bit more expensive than other zinc's but worth it.
If anyone uses any of the tan zinc's as concealer or as an alternative to traditional makeup,drop me a line & let me know what you think.love f

PRODUCT REVIEW-ANTIPODES

Antipodes' Avocado Pear Nourishing night Cream.

This New Zealand made cream is one of the lovliest creams for facial use,for it's price,on the market.It contains a plethora of botanical ingredients good enough to eat,including: SHEA BUTTER,AVOCADO OIL,MANUKA HONEY,LECITHIN,PATCHOULI,YLANG YLANG,& SANDALWOOD ESSENTIAL OILS & VIT E.The list of ingredients goes on,with the emphasis on collagen production & regeneration of healthy cells.The consistancy is a rich creamy texture with a pale lemony appearance,but still light to apply & non-greasy on the skin.It has a beautiful herbal aroma.
I would highly recommend ANTIPODES AVOCADO PEAR NOURISHING NIGHT CREAM for those concerned with aging,dryness,dehydration &  normal skin to feed & maintain healthy skin.

SKIN TIPS FOR WINDY WEATHER USING AROMATHERAPY

It's the change of season weather-wind.Wind & princesses do not mix well,after all,who wants dehydrated skin?Even our oily skinned sisters' skin gets dehydrated at this time of year.
As a holistic beauty therapist,I recommend  extra at- home care using aromatherapy oils.
For oily skin use essential oil of lavender & mix a drop with pure almond oil or virgin organic coconut oil.Mix in the palm of your hand and apply to entire face,neck & decolletage BEFORE your daily moisturiser ,OR as a night treatment, OR BOTH.If your skin  breaks out- cut back.
For normal or dry skin use a drop of geranium or jasmine essential oil ,& mix with black sesame oil(this oil is extremely valuable for ageing or deydrated skin) or avocado oil or olive oil.Apply to entire face,neck & decolletage area underneath your everyday moisturiser & sunscreen AND ALSO as a night treatment.
The skin really responds to the extra care you give it in this type of weather & you should notice an improvement.At the very least your skin will have less visible dehydration & dryness.
If you keep up this regime over winter, you will be rewarded with a dewy,youthful radiance & a healthy glow.Very befitting for a princess.

TRUE BEAUTY/CHARMED LIVES

True beauty is so much more than the physical,outer manifestation of one's appearance,would you agree?Physical appearance is one aspect of any woman's beautiful life.I reckon if you look your best,feel fit,skin glows, & you're  happy with how you look &  feel  in your choices of clothes,then you would'nt be able to help but feel good,& if you feel good it just so happens you'll probably look good & it will spill over into every area of life like a flow on effect.It's human nature to want to look good,who dosn't.As its said in some of the spiritual texts,the body is the temple that houses the soul,so you better look after it.You better honour it for the journey through life .Beauty in life does make us feel good.Beauty in the home,the environment,beauty in a community,a church,a pregnant woman,animals in nature. At the end of the day it really all comes down to how you feel.Elle macpherson said in a recent article "I can look amazing but if I dont feel good it's all wasted".
A Wise woman I know was telling me that she feels the most beautiful when she feels gratitude & has a sense of appreciation for life & all the good in it.This may seem unrelated to beauty,but there are many different opinions on what constitutes beauty & a beautful life,right?so I thought I would add the following piece that, when I first read it years ago,hit me in the guts like a misdirected soccer ball.It's called CHARMED LIVES from the book SIMPLE ABUNDANCE: A DAYBOOK OF COMFORT & JOY by author Sarah Ban Branach:
Charmed lives.Crammed down our throats in the glossy pages of lifestyle magazines.Paid for with a portion of our life energy.It's sick,I tell you,sick.You know who was celebrated for having a charmed life?Macbeth.Now there's a thought worth meditating on.Did Lady Macbeth share this opinion?
Actually,we all have charmed lives.We just don't have a conscious awareness of it,especially after reading about the airbrushed lives of other women.It takes a 1990's version of Everywoman's story to help us see.
  This had been one hell of a year for Everywoman.Just about everything that could go wrong,had gone wrong.Or so it seemed.Money was tight because everywoman was paid on commission.It didn't seem to matter how hard she worked,the recession kept the paychecks irregular.Because finances were tight,there was tension in her marriage,which increased after their adjustable rate mortgage went through the roof.Her husband worked two jobs.Many of their conversations (when they were speaking)were about her finding a more reliable form of employment.Everywoman enjoyed her work and was good at it;she just needed a little more time to make it pay off.But time seemed to be running out.
  That year,her various aches & pains had turned out to be due to a chronic condition.Her doctor told her to make a lifestyle adjustment:eliminate the stress & fatigue that triggered flare-ups.One of her children had required special attention to get him through a rough emotional patch,which only made the other children resentful.Last spring her dad had died suddenly.Soon afterward,her mother had a series of heart attacks & a debilitating stroke.Unable to care for herself she had to be put into a nursing home.Her widowed mother-in-law fared better.She came to stay "temporarily" during the summer & hadn't left yet.Her teenage daughter frequently complained about having to give up her bedroom for grandma.Seeing her mother-in-law at the dinner table made everywoman feel guilty & resentful that she couldn't do the same for her own mum.Everywoman felt worn to a raveling.Today she begged anyone who might be listening to give her a break.
  "You're right.It's been tough," the kindly voice of her guardian angel agreed."Take heart.Every life comes with it's hard times.The Boss says there's a holiday special going on right now.Come up & choose another life,or choose the strength-wisdom-grace package.Strength to meet your challenges,Wisdom to embrace real life,& the grace to be grateful not only for what you have,but for what you've escaped."
  "I want a charmed life"Everywoman said.
  "A charmed life,is it?Well let's see what's available."
  The next thing Everywoman knew she was sitting in front of a celestial computer,as the charmed lives of women all around the world came on-line.The faces were familiar but different in private than in public.Not very glamorous.She was told she could exchange her life for the life of any other woman.A woman's life appeared."How about her"? an angelic life-exchange counselor asked."Comfortable-there's a live-in housekeeper-but rather hectic.Had to put aside her career as a famous trial attorney because of her twin daughters' cystic fibrosis."
  Everywoman asked to be shown other lives......
  There was the beautiful woman beaten by her superstar husband.......The woman whose child was hit by a drunk driver & is now in a coma........The infertile woman who finally became pregnant only to dicover she had breast cancer.......The famous woman whose very public husband had a reputation for being a philanderer......The woman whose husband is about to go to prison for insider financial manipulation.
  Everywoman was shaken."I asked for women with charmed lives,"she moaned."You've only shown me women with great sorrow,humiliation , pain,& despair in designer clothes."
 "each of these women has been celebrated for her charmed life in those magazines you're so fond of reading.Time's up.What will it be"?
  "Is it too late to choose Strength,grace,&wisdom?" Everywoman asked hesitantly.
  "Good choice.Has anyone told you lately that you lead a charmed life?"

                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~
PS:I still love my glossy mags & will not be giving them up any time soon.I love the products,lotions & potions,the fashion & most stuff relevant to health & beauty.I just keep it all in perspective & try to keep a balanced approach .I try to remember what other qualities are attractive in all people because they are certainly  not envy,resentment,greed or constant anxiety over  perceived physical imperfections.
It's best to make the most of what you do have.Play up your attributes.Do what you can,when you can,with what you've got.
.......And if all else fails,apply lipstick!It works every time.Go lipstick shopping if you have to,but put some on,smile,&carry on.
march is massage month
March is upon us already & the new year is in full swing.With the kids at school,the opportunity exists for a little bit of `me time`-pampering,TLC,self-nurturing,sanity saving,stress management.You get the hint.Whatever you call it,sometimes we need to call upon the services of a therapist.A massage therapist.That is why iv`e called March massage month.In the tranquil surrounds of my emerald beach studio,you can switch off to all the `noise`& be pampered with an aromatherapy body massage,or a hot stone massage.
Massage helps relieve stress,tension in the body,headaches,frayed nerves,sluggish circulation,cellulite,among many other things.
Massage is a `feel-good` therapy,it is very relaxing.Some people say they feel like they`re floating afterwards,& just about everybody says they feel more relaxed,centered &calm.Also the skin glows with  nourishment from the oils used  & so massage also treats dry, parched skin.
Massage has been in effect for thousands of years &in many cultures with good reason-it works-its good for the body,mind,soul &spirit!
Penelope Cruz took my breath away........
Just saw Penelpoe Cruz presenting at the oscars & she took my breath away.So beautiful.Her skin & makeup were flawless.(As was the makeup on Cameron Diaz & Jennifer Lopez,whose eye makeup i`ll be copying.)These ladies are obviously beautiful,but it is a well known fact that a lot of `skin prepping` & other preparation goes into them looking so flawless & luminous.
Skin prepping or priming is a fast track way to awsome skin so that makeup looks amazing over an already amazing canvas.This is done through exfoliation,stimulation& hydration, & range in technique & application from simple & quick, to sophisticated & more lengthy.The types of ingredients & products used are key to this process.
As a practising beauty therapist I offer this service.A specialty I offer is a quick pick-me-up for the skin for women who have little time to spare.A 20 minute appointment is all you need to drop by(my emerald beach studio),before a big night out,a date,formal,pre-wedding,or any other special occassion.In 20 minutes I will prime your skin & have you glowing ready for makeup (or not) & your night out.This is also a fun way for girlfriends to get together & come in a group(with champaigne!)
I also arm you with info on your skin &teach you how you can prime your own skin at home.
Enjoy an Aromatherapy Facial
Anyone can benefit from an aromatherapy facial.As the name implies,it is a facial using aromatherapy essential oils. During one of my aromatherapy facials I use 100% pure essential oils each step of the way,of one of the most relaxing experiences ever.Essential oils have been used for thousands of years & throughout many cultures & are used now more than ever before in modern day skin care & beauty therapy.
An aromatheapy facial takes approximately one hour.Upon your arrival your feet will be wrapped in hot towels with lemon myrtle oil,the pores of your skin will be opened with the steamer& hot towels soaked in lavender essential oil.Your skin is then double cleansed with pure organic coconut oil &rose or orange blossom water.The best part is the massage which is done with a customised blend of essential oils unique to the individual.Facial massage stimulates the blood & lymph flow,which encourages nutrients to the area & removes toxic waste,dead skin cells & debris clogging the pores causing congestion,which leads to acne,blackheads,rough patches& scaliness,or a dull & lifeless complexion.Massage with essential oils is also beneficial for people who suffer from rosacea or broken capillaries,although the type of massage can be adjusted to suit the very sensitive skin of those suffering from these conditions,such as lymphatic drainage or facial shiatsu.Facial mask is now applied & again is customised to treat certain skin conditions & types.Orange blossom water or rose water is used to close& tighten pores ,skin is moisturised & refreshing green tea is served to complete the very relaxing experience that is The Aromatherapy Facial.
If an aromatherapy facial is something you would like to try,or to re-experience I am available by appointment@:fionahorsleyaromatherapy@live.com.au
my price for 1hour treatment is $55.00
